Introduction to Rotary International (RI) Rotary History & Avenues of Service:

1. Rotary was started by Paul Harris in 1905 in Chicago, Illinois.

2. The Rotary symbol was originally created to signify “civilization and movement;” in 1923 RI adopted the present gear wheel with 24 cogs and six spokes and keyway.

3. RI is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

4. Today there are approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belonging to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries.

5. There are four avenues of service that are the focus of RI. These avenues include Club Service, Community Service, International Service and Vocational Service.

Introduction to the Twin Cities Nights Rotary Club Charter:

The Twin Cities Nights Rotary Club was chartered in January 2004; the club was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Roseville.

Our Mission

To create a model club of the next centennial. To maintain and expand Rotary's traditions as well as embrace a diverse audience in our members and the communities we serve.

We will pursue our mission through:

~ Incorporating the passions of our members

~ Integrating Rotary's Four Avenues of Service

~ Forming solid partnerships

~ Focusing on Youth

~ Communicating with Current Technology

Twin Cities Nights Rotary. The club of the next centennial.

Membership Qualifications:

Members are above the age of 18 and are employed in a variety of professional careers. Potential members have a strong interest in fellowship, community service, international service, and leadership.

Meetings:

Meetings are held the every Monday of the month.  The location is usually the Chatterbox Pub in St. Paul (Cleveland and Ford Parkway) at 6:30 PM, but please check the website for changes to the location on any specific week. 

Our first and third meetings of the month are Program meetings in which we have a speaker.  The second Monday is reserved for our Board meeting to which all members are invited to listen and contribute.  The fourth Monday is our social Happy Hour.  And when we have month with a fifth Monday, we try to organize a community service project such as serving a meal at a local shelter.

3. The Twin Cities Nights Rotary Club has an electronic publication called the TC Nights Notes that is distributed weekly via the club’s listserv.

Dues:

The annual dues for a Twin Cities Nights Rotary member are $200 which may be paid in full at the beginning of the Rotary year on July 1st or in quarterly amounts of $50 due at the beginning of each quarter (July, October, January, April). In addition to their first month’s dues, new members pay an additional $25 fee as an initiation fee.  Dues can be prorated by quarter.
