New Monument Honors Paul Harris
Rotary Founder Paul Harris is among 20 Americans recognized in a new U.S. national monument honoring pioneers in service.
The "Extra Mile -- Points of Light Volunteer Pathway," a series of bronze markers, was unveiled along a one-mile stretch of downtown Washington, DC, several blocks east of the White House.
The monument honors and tells the stories of selfless Americans who turned their dreams of helping others into great movements that have created enduring change.
Former U.S. President George Bush dedicated the monument October 14.

The rose sale is coming!
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! It is time for a spectacular Valentine's Day Rose Sale! As we are working at completing our commitment to Habitat, this should help us get closer to our goal!
Roses will be selling for $20/dozen, $55/3 dozen (this is an excellent deal for this time of year!). No vases will be sold this year.
Sale ends Friday, January 13- please have numbers to me by that morning.
Delivery on Monday, February 13 at Roseville Radisson (to coincide w/ Roseville's meeting, since they are joining in the sale with us). Roses will be available for pick up from noon through 6 p.m. If you cannot make it at this time, please contact me to coordinate alternate arrangements.
The following varieties are available to us (all flowers are 48hrs. old or less from cut to delivery):
- Forever Young- deep/hot pink
- Pailine- yellow w/ reddish tips
- Gold Strike- yellow
- Blue Curiosa- violet
- Rouge Basier- red
- Geisha- yellow w/ pink tips
- Orange Unique
- Peekaboo- peachy/yellow
- Versilia- light pink
- White
- Shocking Versilia- carnation pink
To help sell the roses, let people know that the different colors signify different things:
Red roses mean romantic love. Purple roses signify that the giver has fallen in love with the recipient at first sight. Coral and orange roses signal desire. Yellow roses are joy and friendship. Pink roses express our gratitude and appreciation. Light pink roses show feelings of admiration and sympathy. Peach is more indefinite, as it can signify either sympathy or gratitude. White roses show meaning of reverence and humility.
I am working on getting some samples for people to put on their desktops (post holiday) to help show their beauty off.
As you are selling your roses, don't forget to get some for yourself! They are always a good way to brighten a winter day!
Please contact Jen Neid for more information!
